Attorney Mark K. Thompson

     I have been practicing business law since 1999, with a focus on numerous areas of civil litigation and civil and criminal appeals. As the founder and owner of MKT Law, PLC in St. Paul, I represent clients with business disputes and transactions. A sample runs from shareholder and partnership disputes, breaches of contract, construction law disputes to matters of unfair business competition, as well as other litigation. I also provide a wide range of services, including business formation, operations and sales and purchases and contract drafting and negotiations.

My peers describe me as a proactive, creative, aggressive and strategic litigator. In 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008, I was selected for inclusion in the “Rising Stars” list by Minnesota Law & Politics, Twin Cities Business and Mpls. St. Paul Magazine. This honor is only awarded to about 2.5 percent of the lawyers in Minnesota.

I have been an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota Law School since 2007, teaching advanced appellate advocacy for the school’s Civil Rights Moot Court. I was also a member of the U.S. District Court — District of Minnesota’s Attorney Advisory Committee, advising the court on its implementation of electronic filing. I have written scholarly legal articles and regularly speak at continuing legal education seminars on ethics and debt collection techniques.
